This is a stagger plugin for RPG Maker MV, like the ones in Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

We’re delighted to introduce to you our new, innovative battle mechanic, Staggering. The ability to Stagger (STGR) in our Stagger plugin makes fighting more difficult, higher leveled opponents a far more enjoyable experience for players. Rather than enemies feeling like mere spongers absorbing endless hits with their enormous HP, this intuitive mechanic allows the player to naturally create an opening for more effective attacks.

When attached to an enemy, this Stagger mechanic will create a meter that will appear beneath the monster. This meter’s maximum value is 100, and represents their progression towards becoming Staggered. The value will always start at 0, with each successful attack by the player resulting in this number increasing, until it hits 100. Once the value reaches 100, the enemy will become Staggered, and as a result enter a Staggered (weakened) state. In this Staggered state, they will be more vulnerable to certain attacks (pre-programmed as you deem fit). They’ll also deal significantly less damage to the player.

With each subsequent turn, the Staggered meter of the enemy will begin to gradually decrease, until it resets to 0 again. Once it does so, the monster will no longer be Staggered and its attack power and defense will return to its usual stats. In order to Stagger the enemy once more, the player must repeat the initial process, reraising the enemy’s Staggered bar to 100.

But, that’s not all…. In order to create a truly challenging experience for players, our new Stagger Plugin further allows you to add this Staggered bar to the player and the allies in their party too! This means that while the player can Stagger an enemy, so too can the enemy Stagger a player, making the player weigh up each move carefully in battle! By allowing both the enemy and the player to be subject to the same new mechanic, we believe this will create far more rewarding and intuitive battles for the player, throughout their adventure.
